The fly fishing lines used for the fly fishing have as a rule in length of 30 yards (about 27 m). The first 9.14 m of a fly fishing line are distinguished after the known AFTMA classes. One makes a distinction swimming (floating) and sinking (sinking) string types and also uses strings with sinking point (sinktip). The form of an fly fishing line is distinguished in parallel strings (stand-in DT Taper) and so-called club strings (WF Weight forward).
